The girl.
Joana used to go to uni with Isabel in Milan. She moved to London as soon as she finished her last exam, about 3 years ago, and has been working here ever since.
Contagious laughter, very easy to feel at ease with, interesting stories and many similar points of view, this mediterranean beauty with Greek descent has a soft spot for healthy food and lifestyle (check her GREEN GOODNESS project here:https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Green-Goodness/1670948676457566?fref=ts).
The photoshoot
Originally planned to be shot in Brixton, at the skate park, I thought that maybe, as a first photoshoot, Joana would have not felt very comfortable posing with skaters all around. So we opted just to stroll around my place, in urban Shoreditch. I wanted a back to basics photoshoot: street art and portraits, one of my favorite combos. Joana was asked to choose a colourful outfit consistent with her style. Isa worked on her makeup and painted two white lines under her eyes. We walked from Old Street to Columbia Rd, stopping several times on our way in the quirkiest spots. Cloudy sky on us when we left the flat, warm sunny dusk light when we reached our destination.
The model.
I love the unpredictability and the challenge of taking a photoshoot with a new model. It’s a leap in the dark and it’s never the same. Joana was confident from the very first moment, very good at taking directions, creative and playful. We really had a great time.
