LES JONQUILLES: “It was a hot Sunday in October, the park was full, the children were playing and the Jonquilles were blooming.
Like flowers, we revealed ourselves under Andrea’s benevolent eyes. Unaccustomed to camera lenses but rather theatre boards, we tried to radiate through our collective harmony but also through our singular differences. As in our show, we wanted to sublimate beauty and sublimate women in general. We placed ourselves at the centre of the gazes, whether these gazes may be benevolent or suspicious, admiring or questioning. Because the eyes are turned towards women, but these eyes must evolve and our show J.O.N.C. is part of this change of perspective”
Les Jonquilles are a Berlin based, French collective who saw its first debut in June 2019. Its members (Alice, Anissa, Lisa, Mathilde, Flavie, Birte and Juliette) aim at representing women in modern society and their search for an identity regardless of gender stereotypes and codes.
J.O.N.C. ‘s reprise will be held on March 7th.
