Viola di Grado is a Sicilian multi-awarded young writer who broke the scene at only 23 with the novel “70% Acrylic 30% Wool”. I met her briefly few years ago but I had the chance to get to know her better last week, when she came to London to visit Anna, a common friend of ours.
I discovered her talent through her incredibly gripping sophomore novel, “Hollow Heart”. I literally couldn’t stop reading it on my commute back home, to the point I found myself standing several times out of my flat door to finish the chapter I had started. Definitely a good sign.
Being aware of how gifted she is made it slightly intimidating to start with. However, it didn’t take long before she showed a down-to-earth side which made me feel at ease throughout the session.
